Ribbon weaving

This "Bringing you Sunshine" card is woven ribbon over acrylic, over a lightly patterned paper.  The flower was created with Cheery Lynn Designs Build a Flower 1 available at at Joan's Gardens.  Word art is by Paulette at Create with TLC

A very big thank you to new blog followers and to all my friends who stopped in yesterday on the Joan's Garden Blog Hop and left comments for me.   I hope you'll also visit my Pssequimages Photopossibilities blog to see digital creations I've done recently.

  3. Hi Joan,
Thank you for asking and for your lovely comment.
I wove the ribbons keeping them measured and spaced in line on my Scor Pal. I had cut a piece of acrylic sheet the size of the card face, and put that right down on my scor-mat cutting and work surface (See "Crafters Pick--The Ultimate" at scor-pal.com). I "wove" the ribbons and applied a dot of fast drying glue (I used "Crafters Pick--The Ultimate" and put a tiny drop under each intersection of the woven ribbons, adhering them gently to the acrylic.
I printed a light piece of pretty paper that I created in Photoshop that had just a few hints of the colors of the ribbon, and found in the die-cut petals for the flower (printed on glossy photopaper) I cut it the same size as the acrylic "mat". I laid that paper under the acrylic, turned it all over and applied Scor-Tape to the edges of the paper. I carefully wrapped the ribbon ends around both the acrylic and the paper and pressed the ribbons into the scor-tape.

Then I adhered that to another textured plain colored paper mat, and that to the white cardstock card front. I recolored (and resized) Paulette's word art and punched that circle and placed it over (and under) filigree diecuts. The Build a Flower was punched out of decorative paper with all the colors of turquoise I used on the paper and the center was a large half pearl surrounded with white Flower Soft. I stuck all those down with glue dots.

I think if I do this again, I'll ribbon weave a whole mat with all the ribbons touching each other and use a variety of ribbon widths and colors. If you do that, you would not have the spaces that see through to the paper, and you could probably adhere it directly to your heavy cardstock. I think that would be a wonderful texture and absolutely gorgeous too. And that could in fact be put behind a cutout and then flowers on the front! Watch for something like that sometime
