Magic Snowflake

This card was inspired by a tutorial written by Vickie Maduzia at Splitcoast Stampers using re-heated embossed stamps and ink-resist techniques.   I used SU Window Framelits, Tim Holtz Snow Flurries EF, the   Tim Holtz snowflakes from the Reindeer Flight stampset (CMS052) and Night of Navy and Island Indigo inks by SU.  Rhinestnes, Stickles and ribbon complete the card.  The embossed Peace sentiment is from a clearstamp set, manufactuer not known.

Music

"Music washes away from the Soul the dust of Everyday Life" says the Just Rite Musical Notes stamps (Cl02215). These match Spellbinders Labels 20 (S5-026), the die used for the focal stencil and the layers of the sentiment stamp. This wonderful JustRite stampset came from Joan's Gardens a while ago.  The stencil,  by Dream Weaver (LL589),  was my gift from Joan's Gardens for my lucky number draw in Challenge #10 (April 22nd) at Joan's Touch.  Thank you so much, Terri. This stencil was used with Pearl Viva Modeling Cream. The depth and shine of the beautiful lyre, violin and trumpets on this Christmassy stencil is so rich and pretty but it did not photograph well at all.
This card was created exclusively for the Joan's Touch Challenge #19 where we were to use a stencil, texturing and several colors of inks.  I did use several colors of inks, including the ink in a jellyroll Gel pen and some blended dark blue inks in an embossing folder letter-press type mat. The notes and scores are Sizzix 657139 Sheet Music #2 EF.  The notes, part of the Just Rite group,  are touched with Ranger's Diamond Stickles (as are the notes on the sheet music.)  I was afraid to try to ink the Modeling  Creme, and wonder if that works or not.  All of these products are available at Joan's  Gardens.

Happy New Home, K and R!

This card was created for the Joan's Touch Challenge #19 where we were to use stencils, lots of colors of inks, dies, texturing and layering.  I used Spellbinders S5031 Labels which I threaded with blue grosgrain ribbon (Offray) and mounted on white Distress Inked cardstock.  I had used the design of the label die to also stencil that mat, then ever so slightly offset the popped up blue diecut.  The multi colored inked stencil on the embossed side was created with Spellbinders Impressabilities (Butterfly 12-1002).  The ink was brayered on and was Kaleidascope "Calypso" spritzed before drying with Sparkle Shimmer.The sentiment medallion is edged with Liquid pearls (platinum) over sponged Distress Ink (Peacock Feathers).  The sticker sentiment is Starform, and the butterfly is a sticker (by Dazzles) that has been stuck onto vellum, inked with Tim Holtz Distress markers, and fussy cut.  The dies, stickers, Tim Tim Holtz (Ranger) products, inks E-bosser, stencils and other card making supplies are all available at Joan's Gardens.

Stencils and Color

Challenge 19 at Joan's Touch this week calls for lots of different colors of ink, lots of textures, and the use of a stencil (or die). This card is created exclusively for this challenge.  
 I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder of flourishes (that I flattened and did not color) on the yellow mat, trimmed a black mat with Starform Black Outline Stickers (1001). Then had an amazing first try with a Spellbinders Impressabilities stencil that I had never used at all until today. (Butterfly 12-1002)  This I used the DEBOSSED side of, and inked that detail with Calypso Kaleidacolor ink that I brayered on.  (My next card will show the same technique on the embossed side!---really pretty).  I spritzed that inking while it was still moist so that the colors would merge and intensify, and then spritzed again with Shimmer Sparkle.  The sentiment is a sticker called Just for you that I got at pop-ups etc. (121001/9321).   This debossed inked center is die cut from Spellbinders Labels 18 (S4-310) Next I die cut Fantastic Flourish One (Spellbinders S2-010) and edged parts of that beautiful flourish with  Black Glaze pen by Sakura and black and gray rhinestones.
The tiny butterflies, touched up with 3D Galaxy Gloss glaze are Beautiful Wings Embosslits by SU.  Spellbinders products, glazes, inks, papers and spritzers are all available at Joan's Gardens.  The Fantastic Flourish was one of the first dies I ever got from Joan's Gardens, and it was fun to follow the challenge with a flowery flourish that almost exactly matched the lines and detail of the Impressabilities metal stencil.

A Carding Sort of Day

Today was just a fun play day, playing with some new stamps, trying out some different techniques and just letting some cards happen.  The top two cards were inspired by Sandi MacIver's  blog tutorial for using the Work of Art stampset.  These are just gorgeous, and go together very easily (butterfly and large daisy are Recollections embellies). The flourishes are from my stash--a clear stamp set (manufacturer unknown).  The sentiments are gold stickers from Pop-Ups Etc  Both of those top cards are "reverse" embossed so that when you open the card you see either Happy  Birthday or Thank You embossed beside the greeting area.  (Those are Cuttlebug EF's).  

The bottom card uses  SU's Woodgrain stamp and punched Petite Petals, some larger punched flowers  and the Little Leaf Sizzlit by SU.  Thinking of you sentiment on that card is from the Just  Rite Stampset Large Fancy  Sentiments and it is shaped with a tag-punch by Uchida.   Edges are inked with  Tim Holtz  Distress inks and the purple ink is just a Walmart Studio G purple inkpad.   Rhinestones and little holographic hearts are Recollections (Michaels). 

Pleasing Projects

Today has been one to play with double stamping techniques using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig by Stampin Up to place detail.  And I've tried a couple of cards with SU's new Works of Art stampset.  I also used stamps from  SU Petite Pairs, from Simply Soft and from  Graphic 45 Botanical Tea stampset which are heat embossed with shiny black embossing powder.  The inside of the So Many Smiles card is embossed with the Thanks EF by Provo Craft (Cuttlebug).   The Happy  Fourth is punched from a computer generated tag. (Font is Rockwell).My Stampin Up Demonstrator is Kathy Legan.

Die cut stacks

This card has been created exclusively for Joan's Touch, Challenge #18.  We are to use nesting dies to cut out three layers of a stamped scene.  I am quite "short" of scene stamps, so I created one with Art Impressions Try-Fold Stampset Harvest TF-UM4205.  Because these stamps are meant to be stamped on gate-fold-shaped cards, stamping the scene involved a little masking.  When I was finished, I didn't like the line drawing effect ---it was really hard to tell even what the scene was supposed to be especially after the layers were cut.  (I used Spellbinders Labels 17 S5-025.)   So, I inked the edges of the diecuts with Tim Holtz Distress ink Walnut Stain.  This stampset is gorgeous when worked with watercolors, but I had stamped  the images on plain cardstock and so instead I used colored pencils and  Gamsol to color the image.  I wrapped copper accented baker's twine around the card base and then cut a mat from Core-dinations sandable paper.  I traced the outside of largest of the dies and then hand cut the 1/8" inch edge to create the border.  Here are some tips I learned on this first one.  Since the cardstock for the card was oyster, the image should have been stamped on oyster too.  If mounted on white--the design was to stark for the autumn theme.  AND ---images you think you want to color should be colored before die cutting them. Also, if you  have a magnetic platform for your Big Shot it isn't necessary to tape the dies in place.    These products, as well as dimensionals glue, tape, die cutter, etc may all be purchased at Joan's Gardens.  

Pop Up MINI boxes

This little pop up card is  made to fit in an A5 envelope.  So Cute! The flowers are by fredshesays and the paper I chose was Imaginesce Mushroom Fancy two-sided designer paper. There are polka dots on one side, and glaze mushrooms on the other.   The sentiment tag was designed by  Tracy  Wray.

The dimensions for the  mini pop-up box card are 7 1/2" x 9 1 /4" scored at 2  1/8", 4  1/4", 6  3/8" and 8 1/2"
Turn and cut off two inches so that the top squares are 1  3/4" x 1  3/4".    (The bottom outside panels are  1  3/4" x 2  3/4" with a  1/2"  tab along the back edge to adhere to the back panel forming the box. Mount inside strips that are 3 5/8" long cut in half to make one inch wide strips and scored on each end at 3/4".  Mount inside the box and flush with the fold-out panels.  You need two of them to adhere the pop-up elements.  Tie a ribbon at the fold line of the card and fold flat for mailing.

Dragonfly Fantasy

This black and white card is created exclusively for  Challenge #17 at Joan's Touch  The challenge this week is to create black and white, create dimension,  and use scallops for the design of the card.  I used Spellbinders S5-180 Borderabilites for my scalloped edges.  These dies are large enough that they work best run through my Craftwell E-Bosser.  The stamps are clearstamps that I picked up years ago off a rack in a store, and long-since have misplaced (if there ever was one) the originator of the fantasy type stampset that includes this dragonfly, a ladybug, a gorgeous butterfly, hummingbird, and detailed fantasy flower with butterfly petals.  Look carefully at the dragonfly and you'll see his wings are created out of peacocks and flowers and his body is a long-tailed exotic fantasy bird.   The "Thinking of You" sentiment is from Large Fancy  Sentiments collection by Just Rite.  This is all stamped in Staz-On ink.  The dragonflies are touched here and there with Glossy 3D Colored pens by Sakura.

Black and White Thoughts

This card was created exclusively for Joan's Touch Challeng #17.  The challenge was to use black and white, add dimension and use scallops.  I created this black and white card edging the black mats with the detailed scallop cutting edge of my guillotine paper trimmer.  The stacked up white stamped detail was the butterfly from Just  Rite Clear Stamps Grand Sentiments CR-03885.  The Thinking of you sentiment is a Starform sticker, and the tiny butterflies are from Stampin Up's beautiful wings Embosslits. They're edged with gellyroll clear star pen.   The big butterfly stamp is inked in black staz-on and also in white versa mark, heat embossed with Ranger Holographic embossing powders.  Papers the Just Rite stamps, stickers, tiny pearls and embossing powders are available at Joan's Gardens.
